I was to leave Beijing at 4pm on July 31st and arrive in Taipei that night. Didn't work out very well as you might imagine. Why? The engineers in Beijing can't design a decent road in their countries capital.
The morning of the 31st I woke up to a light rain but nothing serious. Later went to meet Wangjing for a cup of coffee before I set off to the airport. I gave myself almost four hours before my flight. Nope, still not enough. Apparently the airport expressway flooded. Just to give you an idea of how ridiculous this is I will describe it in detail. This road in most places is elevated 20feet above the surface streets and is the main way to get from the city to the airport. Elevated yet it still flooded!
I took a taxi on the small roads that got me within 4km of the airport before there was gridlock. My words can't even explain how bad the drivers are in Beijing Damn
Damn
. Just trust me. So I walked through the muddy streets weaving between cars to get to the airport.
looooong story short I got stuck in Macau. Then another flight delay to Taipei. Not very happy with either Macau Airlines or the kind folks at Beijing airport.
Macau:
I was kicked out of two casinos. The first one was becuase I brought in my own beer. I tried to convince them that other beers made me sick so I had to bring my own. This excuse didn't get me very far as you might have guessed.
The second one was more funny. I was wearing flipflops but other than that very well dressed. I was "removed" for wearing slippers. I got into an argument about what a slipper was then proceeded to inform him that my "slippers" have a vibram sole and were worth more than his cheap leather shoes. Thus my flip flops were superior. umm it didn't work either ...
Macau sucks!
