Between the market and dinner
Sep 06, 2008
we went to a sunday market in huancayo today and got a lot of stuff for a poquito dinero. Everything is relatively small and light so we can lug it around with us just some earrings made from gourd and carved, a woven tapestry, a woven purse, and some little other things for only a few dollars. we decided not to spend 30 bucks on shipping 1 kilo back to america tomorrow so we were conservative in buying some stuff. still in the same hostel, took a nap today since there was nothing too spectacular to do after 2 pm when we left the market. we are leaving tomorrow for huanuco. We are glad that we were here on sunday to partake in a 6 block market with stalls on two rows. last night we ate a place called la cabana. we ordered a coffee, a tea and a pizza or so i thought. the waitress came over with this mixed meat plate piled high and i was like not this again
! at the first place we ate at in huancayo they pulled the same stunt bringing us two steaks with potatos and salad when i wasnīt even hungry and ate the leftovers today even though i ordered dessert ONLY. So last night at this place recommended by lonely planet for itīs folklore dance show or whatever that started at 9 pm we go to eat at 630 and figured we could relax until the folklore show, but they completely wrote down that i wanted pizza and the mixed grill even though i was asking what type of meat was on the mixed grill. it was a huge plate of food and they took off the pizza and didnīt bring it over thankfully, but the two things together would be WAY too much food and 70 soles to boot! so we asked our house lady what the deal was with the ppl bringing to much food and charging it to the bill and she said it was common just refuse to pay for what you did not order. we had a mini fight last night at the restaurant before the food even came because i ordered the pizza with all kinds of ingredient and aaron got freaked out bc he thought i ordered cuy (guinea pig) and big peppers and anchovies and stuff, i guess we shall never know because the pizza was obsolete. Anyway love and miss to all...
