Gstaad, Switzerland

From Lisa:

After traveling for a few days and only staying one night in each place, we decided we needed to stay put for a while. Finding this tiny ski village in the Alps by the name of Zweisimmen, we popped into the tourist information center to see what might be available. They are so incredibly accommodating, they called around for us and found a very inexpensive chalet for us to stay for 3 days. It overlooked a ski mountain - no snow yet, but lots and lots of hiking trails. We've been hiking for three days! :-) Whew! But it's so beautiful the aching legs from climbing the hills are worth it! It's just down the road from Gstaad, another ski village sitting like a postcard at the foot of the Alps.
Scary night hikes!

From Cheryl:

The tourism offices in Europe truly are an asset to the travel industry.  Many times now we will simply arrive in a country with no accommodations planned and the local tourism office listens to what we are looking for and finds the perfect place.  They have yet to fail us!

The Chalet was perfect for our stay.  Barbara - one of the owners - loved hearing stories about Florida.  Many Europeans think traveling to the US is a dream vacation for them.   We took many walks down the mountain where our chalet was into the tiny village.  These villages all seem so quiet and peaceful.  You can sit in an outside cafe for hours and see maybe 2 cars go by.  We spend a lot of time in those cafes catching up on our journals and reading.  Of course having an ice cold beer to replace those carbs lost while hiking is another great cafe activity!

This is a place I would love to come back to and spend a nice relaxing vacation, BUT the outdoor activities will keep you more than occupied as well.  Sandy, Steve, Ryan - YOU GOTTA COME HERE!!  We kept saying how much we know you would love all this activity!
