From LISA:
NICE IS NICE!!!! :-)
In a word - WOW! Nice, France is one of those places where the water is so many shades of blue it gives me a headache trying to sort them all out! A picture just can't do it justice, but I certainly took enough trying to capture it...we spent 2 days here. Day one, we decided to just go to the beach and give up sightseeing for one day...AHH! It was awesome!! The first "laid-back" day in a while. This part of the Mediterranean is strange to me -- the beach is all smooth rocks. I guess I'm just spoiled from all of the silky, white sand we have on the Florida beaches. But everyone either had their beach chair or towels directly on the rocks and didn't seem to mind a bit!
Day two we had to pick up the new rental car from the airport - while waiting for Cheryl's new drivers license and credit cards to come overnight from Florida
At the airport, Cheryl dropped me off with all our stuff -- 2 full backpacks buckled together, my day pack, and assorted bags of other stuff I didn't want to live without -- while she went to return that car and meet me at the new rental place. We'd loaded everything on one of those carts you use to schlep stuff through the airport and off I went. I must have looked like the world's most over-packed bag lady! Everything was fine until I got rolling on one of those moving walkways...somehow the backpacks fell off (weighing about 55 pounds) - the straps got tangled in the wheels and in the walkway and the whole tour group behind me could not get off the walkway without hurdling all of my stuff!! It took a healthy dose of adrenaline for me to lift all of that back onto the cart, but within about 10 minutes, it was untangled and the tour group could get on it's way.
And that night Cheryl was making me sleep in a TENT!!
From CHERYL:
It truly is hard to describe the beauty of the Mediterranean Sea. As we neared the downtown area of Nice I could hardly keep my eyes off of the dreamy blue water. Of course since I was driving I had no choice! Ok - a few glances at a stop light, but I was used to multi-tasking while driving - ask any one of my work friends how good I got using my Blackberry on the run (Until BETSY convinced me not to).
There is a sense of freedom here
JAMIE - You are the BEST!! What can I do or say to thank you?? You saved me after I lost all my credit cards and drivers license in Paris.. I owe you as all big sisters owe little brothers! Love you kiddo!
Onward to Italy! Ciao!

Relaxing on the beach!
. THANKS JAMIE -- SO MUCH!!! They arrived by UPS just minutes before we were to leave the hotel. So many salts!
. The beaches were top optional so you often saw men and women basking in the sun in just bathing suit bottoms.. Little children always ran around in the buff. While it was a little strange at first, it really did not take long to understand the freedom of it all. It seems that we are a little prudish in America. Here you see women and men all greet each other with multiple hugs and kisses on the cheeks. Men are not afraid of showing affection with each other. It reminded me of a comment from Sergio (a friend from Spain we met in Dublin). He said that men in America were too afraid to show emotion and affection. He was a cool soul and a nice person. We will see him again, I know it.JAMIE - You are the BEST!! What can I do or say to thank you?? You saved me after I lost all my credit cards and drivers license in Paris..
