Paris for Lisa and back to the United States for Cheryl...
From Lisa Leaving African was tough - the amazing animals, the kindness of the people there, and the way the entire country has changed the way I'll look at things forever - but my Mom was coming to visit in Paris and we had a chance to see the city and catch up! Cheryl had arranged the flights perfectly, she'd be flying out to take care of things back "home" like the closing of the condo, moving stuff and taxes (yuck!) and the same day my Mom would be flying in. So I got to stay and play in Paris with Mom! We had a wonderful time, too. Seeing the sights, walking the streets, and eating everything in sight -- especially the French breads and cheeses. We didn't eat the Moule Frites, but we did consume our share of French onion soup and pasta to keep warm, because for the first time in MANY years it snowed in Paris in April! Brr!!
Visiting the Shakespeare and Company Bookstore was a treat, Mom even got a copy of Hemingway's A Moveable Feast there to recount his days in 1920's Paris. We walked all over Montmartre and even took a stop at the Absinthe Museum to see an interesting history of the "Green Fairy". It was a great week, even in the snow! From Cheryl: I did not get to see much of Paris this time around because Uncle Sam needed my attention at home! April 15 was right around the corner and I had to find my tax documents somewhere in my storage where I left them last year! My trip home was so packed that I was only able to see my brother and Sandy, Steve, and Ryan (HAPPY BIRTHDAY RYAN!!) where I was staying. I even had to meet my mom and dad at the airport the day I was leaving to get to see them! Whirlwind trip with a lot to do and no time to do it.. It made me a bit homesick being home for such a short time. But I was also very excited to get back on the road. Someday it will be difficult to be back home permanently. There will have to be some sort of adjustment back to life at home I imagine!
