Well. Four nights in Jacksonville. And I'm using "in" loosly here. I am basically in the middle of nowhere. hard to describe where I am. Not a suburban nightmare area. Not a strip-mall Phoenix-like area. Just this strange sort of business park/middle of nowhere nightmare. I am so bored it us unbelievable. If I tallied for you what I have watched over the last few days on TV, you would all fall out of your chairs. Lets just say that the fact that Celebrity All Star Poker held my attention for a few hours today should be a testament to how bored I am.

Did you know Robert Duvall played Capt. Frank Burns in the original MASH movie?

yep. He did. So he was in 'Nam and Korea. That's a pretty long stretch to be in the Army. Some other TV tidbits for you. You see Angelina Jolie's breasts in the movie Taking Lives. Sports Center airs three times in a row on ESPN in the morning. Spider Man 2 is still a great movie, but HBO should not show it twice on the same day. Day After Tomorrow has some great special effects, but the wolves in it are pretty lame.

Here's the problem. Not only is there nothing here to do, I don't have a car. See, I am only a mile from the facility I need to work in, so being the nice guy that I am, I decided not to rent a car. Saves the client some dough, yo. I'm that kinda guy. Well, that was a serious mistake. I have had hours and hours each day that I needed to kill. Sure, I went for a couple of jogs, but it is freakin' MUGGY here. Unbearable humidity. 90 degrees, but with 90% humidity. It is miserable.

But, I did see a trusty Waffle House, one of the sure signs you are in the south. But it was too far away to eat at, so I have actually eaten at f-ing Denny's three times. One breakfast, one lunch, and one dinner. The best lunch so far though was the Steak and Ale "potroast sandwhich". Mmmmmm. it was tasty. No Grand Slam breakfast, mind you, but yummy just the same.

The only saving grace is that there is shuttle van that will take me anywhere within 5 miles of the hotel. Not much around here tho. But there is a movie theater, so I saw a flick. You can read my review of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory here:

The van is driven by whoever the front desk can round up. I was picked up twice from the facility by some guy named Amos. No cookies, and he was a terrifyingly bad driver. Lets just say that we TWICE ran a red light. The same one, two nights in a row. He just felt it took "too long to change". Good times. I was very pleased when he told me that he had the next day off. I might live through this part of the trip after all.

The best part was when I went to the main building around 11pm to print up a boarding pass. I had to wait for the computer because there was a japanese guy looking at porn on the computer with a printer. this is in the main lobby area. porn. what the hell?
