One of the library staff lives in Speyer so we went for a visit. There we had a quick tour of the Speyer Cathedral which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Sight.

From there we had a very nice dinner - it's the time of the spargle festival so all the local restaurants are featuring spargle on their menus. It is a local favorite - white asparagas.
