The following weekend we headed to Paestum.  It's a site full of Greek temples dating back to 6th century BC.  It was a pleasant drive south.  We stopped for lunch in a small town that appeared to be famous for mozzarella di Bufalo cheese, since there was a shop at every single corner.  Enjoying the scenery, each Randy and I, in our own ways; as we got to town Randy slowed down.  There appeared to be pedestrians.  Why is that noteworthy?  Because Randy would rarely slow down for anyone or anything when he’s driving.  But these two pedestrians happened to be female.  The height of the heels on their shoes matched in sharp contrast to the length of their skirts, not that Randy really noticed, OF COURSE.  Did he really expect me to not notice and say something?  I demonstrated restraint and kept quiet for 5 full minutes; just enough time for him to think he’d gotten away with something.  His denials lasted 5 full seconds after I called him on it, and we laughed for 10 minutes.  I just know to look out if he heads to the wrong vendor at Shoe Alley the next time we go.

At Paestum you are allowed to roam over most of the ruins of the lesser buildings.  The large temples are protected.  It is still amazing that the buildings are standing considering how many other buildings throughout the countryside were recycled to make other stuff, and these buildings represent the proverbial "them" (Greek vice Roman).  We spent the afternoon looking at everything and got the reminder we were not in the US as we left.  A small shop across the street held a group of reproduction Greek urns on display in the window .  At exactly adult eye level all the urns were painted with pornographic images.  Let’s just go with you know pornography when you see it, and forego the one person’s pornography is another person’s art argument.  To say the least, they were not subtle.

Lovely pictures, good food, and good times.  Plus Randy owed me.  I cleaned house while he played golf both Saturdays.
