On our way to Hong Kong and China we had another night's stopover in Singapore.
Here we indulged in Indian food in "Little India" and went toi the Night Safari. This is an annex to the zoo which houses nocturnal animals. You can walk around or take a tram around the exhibits. This is maybe not worth the extortionate entry fees, but definitely enjoyable. The nocturnal animal show is a ridiculously tacky hubbub for young kids and not really worth it. Maybe our impression was slightly tinted, though, by the fact that we were here on an incredibly busy half term break and public holiday weekend.

Sadly we got hit by bed bugs at Ali's Nest. That's a payback for my hubris in propagating we'd be immune to bed bugs with our flash mosquito net. We can't use the net on bunks and that's all Ali had for us in his dorm. The good Lord punishes all trespasses duly Help! Well-staffed information desk at Changi

The highlight was definitely Singapore Changi airport. They have 2 beautiful terminals with orchid gardens, sunflower observation decks, a free cinema, free internet abound, lounges all over the place and an incredible number of helpful information staff (we were greated by roundabout 10 ladies at the information desk!!!). No wonder this place has been voted best airport in the world for years running.

The Singapore Airlines flight to Hong Kong was incredible as well, and much too short. I took some Mandarin lessons on my individual entertainment screen, we logged into the latest news and both watched on-demand movies, ate luxuriously and toasted with some first rate Singapore Slings. What a great journey! True honeymoon feeling. And that's only economy class.
