Andy and Jitkas wedding day on Saturday was truly lovely. The day started with a dash to pick up the bride in Martins decorated car, followed by the ceremony which took place in Czech with a translator for the English contingent. It was as an english ceremony is - the vows, exchange of rings and kissing with some confetti throwing to boot. There were a couple of Czech traditions. - the breaking of a plate with the bride and groom clearing it up, and carrying the bride over the threshold of the food hall :)

Speeches were lovely, food was a strange Czech fare - ham and bread with horseradish and whipped cream(?!), a liver meatball soup then roast beef and dumplings with gravy. Oddly no dessert but some yummy little biscuit things which I could have eaten millions of :)

the rest of the evening was pretty chilled. It seems a tradition for Czech people to get changed in the evening so we did as the locals did and got changed before getting absolutely smashed. Yesterday (Sunday) was a complete write off. Literally thought I might be dying and very proud of us for not just managing to get up (and be sick) but actually going to tesco and then out for dinner! Well done us.

Highlights were:

-Jitka looking stunning
-nearly crying at first dance
-seeing Jitkas mums house and meeting her scary (lovely) dad
-Neil being so drunk he had to be put to bed
-meeting Mirek who had bought his own moonshine in a water bottle
-Martin and Mirek crashing into a cabinet and havin to be fixed up
-making Jitkas massive Czech dad do the birdy song
-meeting lots of lovely people both Czech and English
-seeing jihlava

Thanks both, loved it :)
