Dave and I traveled across Iowa and headed into the heart of Nebraska. It was a long, hot day of travel with frequent stops to stretch our legs. We ate lunch at a rest stop near some fields of soybeans.

We stopped for gas in Iowa and paid $3.99 and stopped late in the day in Nebraska and it was $3.89. Prices are headed in the right direction!

Iowa and Nebraska are filled with field after field of  windmills. They are quite a sight to see up close. Pretty neat!

We stopped for the day in Gothenburg Nebraska.  It's not a very busy little town that's for sure! We went into the local grocery store and saw a farmer that looked like he literally just stepped off the tractor and went to the store to get dinner. He was coated in corn dust and  looked too hot, dehydrated and exhausted. It had to be 100 degrees today!
The locals  of the town tell us that a train goes by every 7 minutes. I believe it! In the short time that we were at the store it seemed like there was a train going in each direction just about constantly.

There was a  rodeo stadium located directly across the street from the campground. My guess is that the campground fills when there is an event going on. When we arrived there were some locals practicing barrel racing and when they finished they just rode off into the sunset down the road. One of them had to load and trailer.

Though it was a travel day, we saw a lot of interesting things and met some very nice people. One of the few other campers last night was a couple from Washington state. Very nice people and they actually were pretty informative about what to see in the Northwest. and along the Pacific coast. They have a view of Mount Rainier from there home in Washington.

All in all a pretty good travel day!
