We left Casa via CMT bus for the trip to Oualidia, where, with a population of around 4000, there is little to do except relax, enjoy the beach and the views, and consume seafood and wine. We were looking forward to these few days before we headed back to Canada.

Casa suburban sprawl gave way to industrial seaport gave way to agricultural quilting. The shore side of the road was farmed right to the edge of the sand dunes, and the inland side provided a patchwork on the slopes to the sea.

We passed through El Jadida. The beautiful beaches of El Jadida attract holidaying Moroccans during summer months. El Jadida is also home to an SOS Children's Village which, regrettably, we did not get to visit.

L'Initiale Hotel

We stayed at a lovely six room hotel, L'Initiale. The staff were quite friendly and accommodating, the food in the restaurant was truly excellent, and we were only steps from the beach.

The first day gave us clouds, a brisk wind, and ruggedly attractive views. We appreciated the slow pace and lack of crowds.
