First job for our new chops was to transfer the papers of our newly acquired scooter. She's a bit grumpy in the mornings, but hopefully doesn't live up to her demonic number plate, 666. Tania is now an independent scooter rider while Steve makes poor attempts to resemble Dennis Hopper...
With our new transportation we can now head to the coast, including the wonderful Nan Liao, where people fly kites, ride bikes (of all shapes and sizes) and give their dogs a good airing. It also has an amazing fish market and an outdoor coffee-shop with an alarming mix of old-school music cds.
Having spent a lovely afternoon watching the sun go down over the sea, we were relaxing at home when all of a sudden the sofa started to vibrate. We looked at each other accusingly in a "stop fidgeting" manner. However, neither of us were moving, at which point the whole apartment started to sway gently. It was Tania's first earthquake experience, 5.7 on the Richter scale. Nothing serious and no damage, just a very strange sensation, imagine being drunk on a sailing boat.
Many moons ago, Steve wrote an entire entry on a hair-cut experience in Turkey. However, he has just discovered a new approach here in Taiwan. He went to the barbers, at which point he was told to pay a machine and take a waiting ticket. 100 NT$, about 2 pounds spent, he was sheared in double-quick time and to finish off, the girl hoovered him. She literally pulled out a vacuum cleaner and sucked the stray hairs off of his face, head and neck. He is currently in shellshock!
