Today was the first time in 30 days that we both had different ideas of what we wanted to do for the day. Matt had discovered that the Paris Motor show was on this week and couldn't wait to get there and look at all the cool cars. I would rather have my fingernails ripped out than look at cars all day, so I opted for a much more interesting day of shopping along the Rue de Rivoli. We both enjoyed exploring different parts of Paris on our own and met up for lunch afterwards full of stories of our own adventures.

Tonight after a slap up dinner at a little Italian place near the hotel, we headed into town to do the one big thing we hadn't done on our visit to Paris. The Eiffel Tower. We have both been up the Eiffel Tower before, although the last time I was so hungover I came straight back down and remember very little of the whole experience, except for the horrible swaying feeling I had the whole time which did wonders for my nausea. We decided to go up at night this time and get a whole new view of the city under lights. Even at 7pm the queues to get to the top are long and slow, but at least you have the view from the second floor to admire while you wait. Eventually we made it to the top and were able to see the lights of Paris extending for kilometres in every direction. With almost precision timing, the flashing lights came on just as we got out of the lift on the second floor and made for some great photos. It was great to have seen the light show from the top of the Arc de Triumph a month ago, and now to be standing on the tower itself during the psychotic display of lights. Our visit to Paris was now complete, having seen everything we had wanted to see and more.
