The day got off to a bad start. Breakfast was great as was the sleep, however our second encounter with a Cambodian tuk-tuk driver was a disaster. We asked to go to Wat Thom which was no problem. He offered us his services for the rest of the day but we declined. Wat Thom was small and under re-construction (hence no pics) but the grounds were littered with monkeys, an elephant and alot of beggers. Upon leaving, guess who showed up? Our previous tuk-tuk driver. He once again offered to drive us to S-21 and the killing fields but we had already arranged this trip with another tuk-tuk driver for the following morning. We declined. He then proceeded to follow us most of the way down the river front and even into the boat terminal office where we enquired about tickets. We found this rude and very intimidating and just lost patience with the guy. We detoured off the road and just ignored the guy till he got the idea.

We walked down the waterfront towards the royal palace, visiting temples and pogonda's on the way. We reached the palace entrance only to be informed that it was closed for lunch. We wondered down to independence monument, took some snaps, and searched out a watering hole. We throughly recommend 'The Shop'' which served fantastic chocolate eclairs, apple & pear juice, lemon juice, and sandwiches. This combination would later come back to haunt Bob. Dairy products and Bob don't mix, coupled with lemon juice had explosive consequences. On the way back to the palace Bob complained about a upset tummy. We should of listened to the warning signs. Instead we entered the palace and queued for tickets. Bob had to leave! Bob ran out of the palace and we dived into the first tuk-tuk available. Neadless to say we spent the rest of the day at the hotel. Weeble was fine and made use of himself by booking the boat tickets and finding the hotel in Siem Reap
