So on New Year's Eve I helped my host mom vacuum the hallways upstairs
and downstairs, I also helped prepare some of the yummy food for New
Year's breakfast the following day. It was lots of fun. Tomomi tried to
teach me how to cut a carrot into a flower shape but it was too
difficult for me, not to mention dangerous with the giant knife hahaha.
It was really cool to see how the Japanese really are all about the
presentation and I watched how Tomomi made the food look pretty. For
dinner I had shabu shabu again and then at around 8:30 I headed for ID.
It took me about an hour to get there and then I met up with Jay and
John where John proceeded to start me off slow with my drinks. Thank
goodness! Jay always has my back, he talked to his friend Satomi who
apparently was there by herself and so I made a new friend ^_^. We
danced the night away, literally. At midnight we let off the confetti
poppers and John kept getting me drinks...So much for going slow. But
he did get me the strawberry kiss drink although I was only able to
drink one of those. Too bad. Satomi was a good person to have around
since what guys I couldn't scare off she was able to. So we stuck
together and only rested a couple of times. I danced with John for a
bit, actually he snuck up behind me and so I didn't realize it right
away. Jay really scared me when I said no to another shot, turns out he
was joking, but that doesn't make it any less scary. Anyways, ID closed
at around 5:10 am, we dropped Satomi off at Osu Kannon and then Jay
dropped us off at Mcdonald's to grab some type of breakfast. I tried to
pay but John wouldn't let me, again. Not sure if that's a good thing?
So I had to wait for a while to get my first train, and I fell asleep
and just didn't miss my stop lol. Then I had to wait a bit for my
second train and then biked home. So I left John and Jay at around 7am
but didn't get home until 8. I caught some much needed sleep and didn't
wake up until 1 pm. I came downstairs and my host mom had saved New
Year's food for me. Too bad I didn't have a huge appetite, the food was
really good. But I could only eat so much. After lunch I went to the
Yahagi shrine and then to Okazaki Park shrine. It was really really
cold. But I got to spend some more time with my host father which was
nice. He wants to take me to Okazaki Castle. Dinner was more of the
same that I had for lunch. Still good though! Unfortunately I have lost
my battle with my cold. I'm not sure if I can go to the sword ceremony
tomorrow or not.
