We got off to an early start because we had to check out, so we had our
breakfast at the Ryokan and then walked all the way to Kyoto station.
After finding lockers to store our suitcases, we got a little side
tracked and went for waffles at the station. Mmm strawberry waffles
^_^. I also had a caramel hot chocolate. We also made a side trip to
the bookstore before finally departing for Byodoin at around 12:30ish
hahaha. Amazingly enough it only took about 15 minutes to get to Uji
station. From there we took a taxi to the Byodoin temple. It was
AMAZING! For those of you who don't know, this is the temple that is
supposed to be modeled after a bird in flight. There was even a museum
inside with different sculptures of the various Bodhisattvas, of course
no pictures allowed though. We headed back to Kyoto and to our delight
we were allowed to catch the Nozomi bullet train back, as opposed to
the Kodama. So we got back to Nagoya in less than an hour. Roxy and I
headed for Osu street, and although I didn't buy anything, it was still
fun to look ^_^. I got home at around 7ish because once again my
kickstand on my bike had been locked, so I had a bit of trouble
unlocking it. My host family got a new tv! It's a big screen one, I
think 52 inch? not entirely sure. Dinner was delicious, still not sure
the name of it, has beef, onions and some sweet tomato sauce. I talked
with my host dad a bit, and the grandfather actually smiled and said
thank you when he saw that I'd brought back a souvenir from Kyoto. So
maybe he doesn't dislike me as much as I thought...Anyways after dinner
I went up to my room and have been frantically uploading all my
pictures. Apparently the 30th and 31st are days spent cleaning the
house here. Which is good because I'd planned on cleaning my room today
anyways ^_^.
