So Emily, Roxy and I headed for Hiroshima on the super fast bullet train! Took about two hours to get there and the first thing we did was find our hotel, then we took the streetcar to the Hiroshima museum. The moment we got there, we could see the recreations of the ruins and destruction the A-bomb had caused those many years ago. It was indeed a very sobering experience, then we entered the museum...that was really tough for me, I cried a lot learning about what had happened to the victims and on how nothing could have been done...It was scary, a real eye opener. The museum was so big, but there were so many things I couldn't bear to look at, especially the wax figures of what the people looked like with all the burns. I am not one for the graphic images. After visiting the Hiroshima museum we jumped back onto the streetcar and headed for Miyajima. That was a long streetcar ride, but it was pretty and we even went across the ocean at points. We finally arrived at our destination and then jumped on a ferry! It was so cool! We took many pictures from the deck, and it was such a nice day, so the ocean looked lovely! We got to Miyajima island and the first thing we saw after getting outside was a deer. It was so cute! It was tame too, we all went up to pet it. It wasn't until later that we realized that deer are really really common on Miyajima and that petting one really isn't a novelty on this island...we walked and walked and walked some more and finally hit the place where the red arches were! We took many pictures and even went inside the temple! I also saw a five story pagoda! I loved the bright colors! Miyajima was so pretty...and it was definitely a good pick-me-up after Hiroshima. I got a souvenir keychain because it was so pretty ^_^. It got dark pretty fast though and so we jumped back on the ferry and Roxy and I had pizza manju for dinner. Tastes just like pizza! hehe. Anyways, after that we headed back to the hotel. Emily went to sleep first, while Roxy and I tried to plan out what to do in Kyoto before we eventually fell asleep.
