So I met with my dad today, the trains were slow. In any case, we went
to Starbucks and then while searching for a post office went to Atsuta
Shrine. It was okay, nothing worth taking pictures for though. We
headed back to Kanayama and then went to a manga cafe. to use the
internet I felt like such a tourist, I ended up paying for time when it
was only my dad that used the computer. Oh well, live and learn I
guess. We had miso katsu for lunch and then took the subway to Sakae,
where after a slight minor miscalculation, and help from this nice
Japanese lady, who actually happened to speak English, found our way to
the hotel. My map proved to be a little bit confusing. Anyways, the
hotel itself is pretty decent, actually more than pretty decent. Way
better than the hotels I'd stayed in before. There is an internet
connection too! I don't expect us to do anything else that's too
invigorating, I made my dad do a bit too much walking. I wonder what
tomorrow will bring.
We headed to Kyoto by bullet train in the late afternoon so got to
Kyoto by about 12ish I think it was. walked around the station and
ended up going into a computer store haha. Some very creative usb
drives...Anyways after the computer store we went to Isetan (this big department
store near Nagoya station. OMG it was so cool! Not only was it 11
floors, but the escalators all went the same way and because of the
Christmas decorations, you could see all these wreath arches up to the
top. We did some window shopping there mainly and then I bought a few
souvenirs from Kyoto, oh and I even had CHRISTMAS CAKE ^_^
We got back to Nagoya at around 6ish I think it was? Did some more
window shopping and had dinner at the Outback Steakhouse in Sakae. Mmm
garlic mashed potatoes, chicken and ribs :D. Unfortunately Western food
doesn't seem to agree with me at the moment.
I woke up with a stomach ache from the big western meal I had, it was
all rush rush to get to school. Met up with Yamaguchi in time though
and he showed me and my dad the Buddhist temple that even had a pagoda
and we were able to explore inside and see all the mortuary tablets of
the Shogunates. Pretty cool, a bit cold though. We also went to a
shrine briefly before I headed back to the hotel and slept for two
hours. Then we headed to Nagoya station and my dad showed me just how
big that station is. We had pasta on the top floor and then did some
more shopping at JR Takashimaya where I found this cute cashmere
sweater dress and my dad bought it for me for Christmas. Yay!
Saturday was all about shopping, we went shopping on Osu street, and
it's even bigger than I first thought. I got a cute elephant placemat,
a pink sweater dress, a butterfly belt and accessories to go with my
sweater dresses. Thanks Dad! We had dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe in
Fushimi. It was so cool what they did for people's birthdays! There was
singing and dancing to the YMCA song, so much fun ^_^. Then I got ready
for my Christmas party at ID. After a few minor detours I finally made
it to ID. I made some new friends, and it was as fun as ever! I went
with Jay and John to Cream afterwards and that was even more fun! The
night did not end the way I expected it...hahaha. Some interesting
developments for sure. Until next time!
