So I woke up this morning, had my toast, and got to school a little
early. Aoyama's class I learned that うまい has multiple meanings, and
also learned the Japanese equivalent to "Sup?" although it's actually a
long sentence so not sure if I'll ever use it. I had leftover nabe and
rice for lunch, it was pretty good. Then in Nishio's class we had yet
another test, good thing I did some studying at lunch, I was able to
remember the kanji that I'd studied at least. Still need lots of review
on that front. We also were tested on particle usage and I was happy
that I got most of them, and also understand where I went wrong, so
hopefully won't make the same mistakes next time. I also learned that
by adding さ to the end of an い adjective, you can change the adjective
into a noun. for example the word for sad かなしい can be changed into the
word for sadness かなしさ. So it was a very productive day today, I even
came home and read history for an hour and a half. Dinner was
delicious! It was rice with an egg donburi of some sort that also had
onions, chicken and NARUTO ^_^. I also had wontons randomly...and as
the randomosity continued, I had a korean contact me on Skype wanting
to practice speaking Japanese with me haha. It was definitely good
practice.
I woke up this morning at around 7:45ish, I had my shower at around 8
for once, so I ready for school at around 9:30. Fearing the weather
would change, I went to school early, before it started raining. I
actually did kanji practice before Yamaguchi's class. We watched the
behind the scenes of the Takarazuka. For instance only 40 of 16 million
hopeful applicants get accepted into the Takarazuka school. Then those
40 are required to clean the school by hand, it's supposed to teach
them discipline, patience and concentration. As the head of the school
put it "These girls will soon become good housewives"The life of a
Takarazuka top star is short-lived. They have to retire after two
years, and if they reach 25 before they become a top star they have to
retire because 25 is the critical age to get married. Quite the
eye-opener, for an all women theater troupe, there were definitely some
things that just didn't seem right. Maybe it's a cultural thing?
Anyways after the movie it was lunch time and Roxy, Emily and I had an
impromptu lunch with Yuki and friends. One of them even got us kit-kats
(the regular mini size). that her mother had bought in Okinawa. That
was really sweet, however sadly these kit-kats just did not taste like
the real thing. We also got brown sugar candies, those were good ^_^.
Nishio's class was next, although first Nishio took us to see the
crimson leaves that had just blossomed overnight at school. Very pretty
but it was raining so the lighting wasn't ideal for a picture. I'd
actually done the reading so you think I would have been able to follow
along in class but no it was still just as frustrating as usual. At
least we didn't get any reading for homework, instead we have to answer
the question "What were you before your parents were born?" Talk about
an impossible question to answer...I can't say dinner was delicious
because well, there was onion korokke, that was fine, and rice of
course, and cabbage, and random shrimp sushi, but the most difficult
thing for me to eat is the egg mixture that is slippery and thick but
not quite liquid. In other words I will refer to it as the slime
mixture...very difficult to eat, because of the weird texture, and
honestly pretty bland. So I ate it, but only the minimum amount, and
now I have a tummy-ache, I hope it wasn't because of the slime...Until
next time!
