So today I woke up nice and early and walked to school. I listened to
my i-pod on the way and took pictures on my walk. It was very relaxing.
Aoyama's Cross-Cultural class was first. The students taught us
Japanese games. First I played a slap jack game with cards that
involved the whole hiragana alphabet, that was lots of fun. Then I
learned how to make these really pretty flowers using I think crepe or
tissue paper? (Pictures soon). I played paper sumo wrestling and that
ball in the cup type game. Then I played put the pieces of the face on
the picture. Then it was a hand game that was very difficult if you
weren't concentrating. Finally I played string games, like Cat's Cradle
and Jacob's Ladder. It's interesting that the Japanese think they
invented that...I thought it was the Inuit. Anyone know the answer? In
other news, I learned the ingredients of the fish sauce my host mom
makes, only one problem...she uses Japanese cooking sake, and I'm not
sure if we even have that particular brand in Canada, the rest of it is
composed of this other liquid I'd never seen, sugar and soy sauce. So
yes it was fish for dinner, yummy!
Thursday was fairly uneventful. Had Aoyama's class first thing, we've
definitely hit JAP 201 concepts, makes my head hurt. Em and I rode our
bikes down to Apita and I tried the Mcdonald's teriyaki burger, OMG so
DELICOUS! Mcdonald's here totally tastes better. haha, then we had
crepes for dessert, mmmm crepes! After lunch I found Nishio's class
difficult, I guess I haven't been doing enough studying. Thursday night
I had Ramen for dinner, still have not mastered the slurping without
making a mess that is haha. I had tamago tofu with rice again, I miss
egg-jigglers!
FRIDAY was EPIC! I think it's because it was Halloween ^_^. Got to
school early and together with Kana we decorated the classroom. It was
so much fun! Then Nishio drove me and Roxy to get our alien
registration cards, I can finally get a cel phone (no I don't have it
yet...). Then after lunch was our halloween party with the students. I
dressed up as Marilyn Monroe, with my gold dress, Emily was a pumpkin
and Roxy was Sir Topham Hatt (if you don't know who that is, well you
should!). We had pumpkin carving and watched the 6th sense, oh and of
course there were lots of treats! Overall I think the students had lots
of fun, I know I did. Some of them even dressed up! So after school I
came home and got ready to go out to Sakae. I took the rapid express
train so I was a little late meeting Emily. I got to Kanayama station
at 7:55 and I didn't see her, so I assumed she'd gone on ahead so I
went to the Starbucks in Sakae. Nobody was there that I knew, I figured
I'd wait a bit so I automatically went to order a Strawberry and Cream
Frappucino, but...and I'm so choked about this. They don't have it! I
had a mango passion fruit smoothie instead. So I waited, and waited,
and waited. This is one of those times a cel phone would have been
extremely useful. In any case I waited in Starbucks for 2 hours and
then went to wait outside Jay's club. Some guy started talking to me in
English and I couldn't tell if he was coming onto me or if he just
really wanted to speak English with someone, I gave a fake name in any
case, he seemed a bit questionable to me. Emily and Tomomi showed up
and then Jay and his brother so we went into the club. I couldn't
believe it. There are FOUR floors to this club! Each floor is a
different type of music starting with House, Reggae, Techno and Hip-hop
and R & B (Jay's floor). The first drink I had of the night was a
strawberry fizz, it was delicious! Jay treated us to lots of drinks at
the bar. I tried this drink called Zima which was good, not sure if
they have it in Canada. There were so many good things about this club,
the atmosphere, the lockers for coat check cost is $2.00 but you can
shove absolutely everything into one locker, seems a lot more efficient
to me, the set drink prices at $5 no matter what drink. The one
drawback is that smoking is allowed...other than that, this club was
AWESOME! The club closed at 1 am but Jay and his brother took us to
another club that stays open until 5 am, but we only stayed until about
3 am. Still it was so much fun! Jay's brother commented on my hip-hop
dance skills saying I can really dance hip-hop. Who knew? lol. I was
just having fun :P. Oh funny story, so I had my big pink jacket wrapped
around my waist because there was no coat check at this smaller club
and the next thing I know I feel this hand wrap around my waist. I grab
the hand and am ready to tell the guy off when...it was a GIRL! lol, so
yes I danced with a girl. That was fun :P. I really wanted to go
tonight to the club again but I didn't want to go by myself, because
for the first half of the evening I'd be by myself while Jay and his
brother would be Dj'ing, not the best situation to be in. Also figuring
out where to stay tonight would have been difficult. Oh well, there
will be more chances I'm sure.
