 I've already lined up the entire top of my dresser with thermal underwear, hiking socks, jeans, shorts and all kinds of assorted gear. I know I'm overpacking for this trip - but October in Michigan? Anything can (and will) happen weather-wise.

I also have an large envelope stuffed to the breaking point with maps, guides and brochures. I don't want to miss a thing!

If you were going to visit Glen Arbor and the surrounding areas of the Leelanau Penninsula and Grand Traverse Bay area - where would YOU go? What would you recommend? Feel free to leave your recommendations posted here.

Please keep in mind I am on a very tight budget - my main goal is to look for scenic areas and things to photograph. So please, no suggestions on shopping and very expensive restaurants - I already know they're there- and I'm avoiding the temptation!

But perhaps you know of a great little diner, a fruit market, or a breathtaking overlook simply not to be missed. Let me know where it is!

Sorry.;..
I can't recommend any restaurants in your area. However... I do know some great little places here in Santa Cruz, Calif. How about the Silver Spur diner??
