After the heat of the east coast, Seattle was grey and cold when we arrived (in many ways a welcome relief). The Clarion, a hostelry designed for the desperate traveler, fitted our bill (we were SO tried). Actually, a nice place with a laundry Heather headed for, arms loaded.
Once again, Mr. Avis messed up our plans. We ordered a four-door sedan, ended up with either a SUV or a Sherman Combat Tank, not really sure which it is, but have to admit it drove well after the low slung sports car we had in Boston! Bill has already crushed a few drivers who thought to challenge us on the road! After nearly 36 hours in and out of airports, it was wonderful to get a decent meal (Vietnamese food) from not far away then go to sleep not in an airplane seat but a comfy bed. We slept like logs (though Heather accused me of sawing wood all night!) and when morning arrived, headed Eastward over the beautiful Cascade mountains. Next stop Yakima ...
