We've hit the 'BIG APPLE'
Entry 23 of 47 | show all | print this entry |
Off from Washington... changing airlines at least once... and into my old stomping grounds,NYC, where we began a whirl of "look here, I lived there once. Another: I had my first job there", but as usual Heather was stoic and put up with my stream of useless information. New York never really changes and is still the vibrant, exciting city of the movies, the novels and of the times I, at least, remember so well. As I type this I'm looking out over the usual NY scene of a huge 50 or so story building right across from the window of the apartment (read "flat") we are in. We are staying with a longtime friend of mine, who announced as we arrived that she'd just been axed from her job at the NY Times. Tonight we are meeting friends from my Wall Street Journal Days, tomorrow and the next day with Television (CNN, other you've never heard of) days (I have a lot of trouble holding onto a job, I think) before we shift gears and start thinking about the reunion. More to come.Bill.
