After a leisurely start we packed up and bid farewell to Eagles Landing (P& MA's home) and headed for Washington DC. The roads were quiet till we hit the city and then Memorial Day tourists abounded everywhere. We bid a sad farewell to our wonderful friends but have made plans that will hopefully see us getting together in 2010! [There's nothing like having something to plan and look forward to ...] The weather was really hot and we got the summer gear from our cases.
We seem to have hit the jackpot again ... our hotel is delightful. It's a small boutique hotel with no room service/food outlets but great rooms and facilities. A huge sitting area leads via french doors to the bedroom and a spacious bathroom between. The staff are delightful and so friendly and Georgetown is a fascinating area. We walked the main drag and saw lots of wonderful old buildings. The first home in DC is just across the way ... the old stone cottage.
Dinner was with Chris and Rachel at a restaurant on the banks of the Potomac River. Bill was overjoyed to see Chris and meet Rachel. We had so much news to catch up on that we took it in turns to talk ...! It was a happy night and we wandered back to the hotel with plans to meet the following day. Another great day was enjoyed by all.
