After an early get up we headed for the airport and joined the security queues for American Airlines. Thankfully we had plenty of time as there seemed so many security checks ... but Bill's insulin and other bits didn't cause any problems. Business class on AA was very comfortable and the food and service was much better than we expected. We arrived at Chicago airport and cleared immigration after H had her fingerprints and photo taken electronically - amazing how efficient they were. We then changed terminals and got on our plane for the 1 hr trip to Washington DC.
Mary Ann and Paul were there to greet us and take us to their lovely home in Colonial Beach. It was so wonderful to see them and both men have talked about lots of old times. By the time we got to bed ... we were exhausted. H's watch was still on Dublin time and we'd been going nearly 20 hrs! After the cold and wet weather we left in Dublin, the US was sunny and warm and a welcome change.
