After an early get up yesterday we arrived in Dublin on time and joined the huge queues at the airport for immigration. It seems the whole world is coming to Ireland. We collected our hire car and then faced the next challenge ... gettting off the Bl..dy ring road that circles Dublin. Must have wasted over 1 hour as we tried in various ways to locate N4 ... You will be glad you weren't a fly on the wall in the car as H&B had a few choice words! Thankfully by accident we got onto the correct road but we have to say the a few more road signs would be welcome by strangers such as us.
We made it to Boyle in Roscommon just after 5.00pm. H was exhausted but relieved [as nurse, driver, navigator etc.] A delicious dinner at a local pub restored our humour and zest for life but we headed for bed early for a good sleep.
Abbey House B&B is delightful and we have been made so welcome (including having 2 cats to greet us) It's right next to Boyle Abbey which was built in 1142 and is so full of history. The landscape was so green and lush as we drove along the motorway. Ireland is SO green it's amazing. Despite the dramas earlier in the day, have fallen in love with Ireland.
