We had a restful and lazy start over the breakfast table talking .... Weather was cold, wet and wintery but we left Wendy's before 12 noon for a walk to Highgate Woods - 10 mins from her place. It was just beautiful to see the gorgeous green foliage and tree canopy above us as we walked. It reminded me of Sherwood Forest. Lots of dogs with owners for a walk and we strolled around the woods taking in the beauty and quietness. Hunger then moved us to the next activity of the day ... so headed to one of Wendy's special pubs 'The Wrestlers' in Highgate. I'd forgotten how great the pub atmosphere is. We had a delicious lunch of assorted tapas and sat in the baywindow looking out on the rain and cold outside whilst we were warm inside.
After lunch we walked to Kenwood House and strolled around the lovely house and gardens. It was misty rain most of the day but we were warm and coped with the weather. By the time we arrived back 'home' we were exhausted but happy with all we achieved. Bill's BSL were good today .. hopefully this will keep up!
As it was our final night, we wanted to take Wendy out to celebrate her graduation. It wasn't the place we intended but ... we had a good meal at a Greek restaurant - the only customers whilst staff set up for music and greek feasting from 9.00pm. We had a few laughs at the antics of staff and left before all the action happened!
When we got home again ... time to pack and prepare for 'blast off 'the next morning. It's been a lovely few days in London and good for Bill to stabilise his levels. We stayed local and didn't rush all over trying to see tourist places. The time with Wendy was very special and we thank her for her wonderful hospitality and care. How lucky we are to have such great friends around the world.
