A delightful surprise in Prague
Entry 8 of 47 | show all | print this entry |
Our last full day in Prague saw us up early and heading for various spots before we met the GM of MO for lunch. Along the way we passed a gorgeous old church, gallery and antique shop and stopped to take photos etc. A couple came by, Bill took their picture with their camera as they posed and we all discovered amazing coincidences: the lady is Australian, so also Heather. The man had lived in America ... Both couples live in Melbourne. After digesting all this, we went our separate ways. Bill and Heather headed for the Mandarin and lunch with the GM. Kylie Minogue, the Australian singer, was staying in the Mandarin and the game of the day was watching the mobs of paparazi lining up at the one spot they presumed would be Kylie's departure area. As we were leaving the Mandarin, the GM got into a conversation with a couple, whom we recognized as our friends from the old church. At that point a lovely young lady walked up to Bill, stuck out her hand and said "my name is Kylie" and quick on the trigger as we two are, we realized our friends were Kylie's parents. We had to go all the way to Prague to meet Melbourne neighbors and an Aussie superstar?!!! What's the old saying "...6 degrees of seperation?" We laughed and recalled the event for the rest of the day - our delightful surprise in Prague. Dinner was at a local restaurant we found - great food and service with some fine Czech wine. What a great way to end a wonderful time in Prague.
