I arrived at CKS International Airport early in the morning. It took about an hour to get from the airport to Taipei City. That's nothing compare to the 13 1/4 hours flight from L.A.. I'm staying at the KDM Hotel in the Da-an District. Temperature during the day gets over 80 degrees with 80-90% humidity, about 10 degrees cooler at night.
I met up with my cousin Kat and her husband, Simon at Jiantan MRT Station at night to go to Shilin Night Market. They came from Taichung to spend the weekend with me. What a great place for local food and shopping. The Night Market really comes alive at night. Street vendors sell everything from clothes to all kinds of snacks, including Corn on the cob, Stinky Tofu, Oyster Omelet, Deep-fried buns and other favorite local (Taiwanese) dishes. At times the market is so crowded you can hardly move. It's the disorder that makes Shilin Night Market so unique, crowds and chaos.
