Well, I was dumb but I also had some dumb luck. Seamus, the cat, enjoys telling me throughout the night that he's hungry, thirsty, bored or just wants to check in. He does this by yowling. I've gotten into the habit of leaving the rear a/c's fan on at night, even when it gets down into the 40's at night, to mute his pleas. This morning I gave up at 5:30AM knowing I had to leave for Kingman, AZ.
Everyone was fed, and I was hooked up and ready to go at 7:15. The park's spaces were narrow, and my neighbor's truck was just barely inside his space. Turning onto the road I knew that the trailer would track inside the radius of the EX, and I was concerned about the trailer meeting the neighbor's truck. I had fretted about this most of last night. Lucky me, a woman steps outside for her morning nicotine fix. I ask if she would mind moving her truck back about two feet. She goes into the trailer, wakes her husband, and he comes out in his pajama bottoms and moves the truck. I back the trailer up a bit so I can pull to the right before making my left turn. I got onto the road, and watched the trailer, and sure enough it tracked onto their space just enough that I was glad I had them move. I thanked them and drove on.
The ride to Kingman was short so I kept my speed down. I was just hoping to get there before it broke 100. I arrived just as the temps broke 90. I unhooked the trailer and hooked up to shore power so I could get the a/cs cranking out their cool life's air. I went inside to extend the slide and
DUMB.
In preparing to leave I had forgot to take the pet food containers off of the Microwave's cabinet. This cabinet is next to the slide. I removed the locking block from the forward slide lock, and then went to remove the aft lock. Well one food container was about to fall between the slide and the cabinet wall. I reached over it to remove the block, and the damn thing fell between the slide and the wall. Yikes, now I've really gone and done it. I went to the office and they had one of those trash pick up things where you pull a trigger and it's claws close around stuff. I was able to grasp the block with this, and got it pulled up. You can bet that those food containers will be somewhere else when we travel from now on!
DUMB Luck.
For the first two or three legs of this trip I haven't been able to get the King Dome to connect to the satellite. I had stopped trying thinking there was a problem with the King Dome itself. Just on a lark I tried it again. Yea, it found the satellite link and now I have my TV.
Tomorrow is my first venture into California, and I've been apprehensive about this for over a year. I won't go all the way into LA because I don't want to face their traffic after a long drive, and probably a bit fatigued. So, we'll see how it goes.
