The drive from Clovis to Gallup was long and hard. It seems the IH40 is either under construction or in need of construction. I was introduced to my first steep downhill grade of the trip in Albuquerque, it was of course under construction and downhill traffic was restricted to one lane. Not any fun. The trip was 380 miles, long for me, and I was reminded why I don't have many travel legs this long. I also learned that I'll never have one this long again when I'm driving alone. I miss my navigator.
I stayed in the same RV park Pat & I stayed in about 7 years ago. It's a nice park, but the spaces are all gravel to try to keep the dust down. It doesn't, and Iris really does not like to walk on it let alone do her business on it. She's a grass type of girl. After a 7 hour trip I was beat, and just got something to eat, talked with Pat on Skype, had my allotment of beers, and went to bed.
I got up in the morning around 7. I had hoped to sleep late, but Seamus had been howling since 5. I really don't care for cats. The park offered breakfast so I had some pancakes and bacon. It was good, but I got full and only ate half. I went to fuel up at a local station and they wanted 4.95 p/g - NO. I drove a half mile further to the truck stop and paid 4.55 p/g. I try to spend local when traveling, but not when they want to gouge me. So I used the national chain and saved $18. Now to get out of this desert

Glad the trip is going well - long hauls are a thing of the past for me as well.
The Family Reunion is nearing its end - BIG day today - lots of great brisket - we've burned a lot of gasoline and have some great photos of some great tubing!
Safe travels

PS - Mom and Kathy came - and Kathy rode the jetski with me!

Hey Dad,
That is a long drive, especially with a trailer. Although, going 730 miles from Houston to El Paso with one stop in Austin, wasn't much fun either. Of course I wasn't pulling anything, but I did turn around and do it agian the next day in reverse (in January with out a heater).
Drive safe and give us a call when you get a chance.
Love, Greg and kids
