After spending too much time in the car over the last couple of days, we were all looking forward to a "down" day in Cincinnati.  We checked into the Ashley Quarters Hotel & Suites in Florence on the Cincinnati outskirts.   We arrived Sunday night quite late, and needed to do some grocery shopping.  Kerrin and Wayne headed off without a second thought in T-shirts and shorts at 8:30pm to find a store - no problem, the Target about 1/4 mile up the road was open til 10pm!!

Monday was a rainy, cold day.  Linda needed to get some work down, so she set up office in the Hotel dinning area and the rest of us spent the day relaxing (watching videos from the hotel library, reading and sleeping).

We noticed a couple of changes in demographics here - the Hispanic population and influence seemed far lower than in NY or DC.  The accent had also developed  a twang.  We saw a banner on the side of a water tower announcing "Y'all Florence"   - I still have not figured out what this means, but y'all features prominently in local speech.   We had to start really listening to what people said to understand them and start speaking slower to help reduce the glazed looks on people's faces when we spoke to them....

I know the accent - have friends from there. It takes some getting used to. Henry went to Uni here to learn Zulu, as he has a ministry to the Zulus. He is fluent, but I believe sounds somewhat peculiar!

Hi guys. Have been following your trip with interest. Apologies that this is my first comment. Watching your snow fight brought back memories of our impromptu snow fight out along the Mount West road not so long ago. I trust Linda has gotten over her bladder infection by now and that you're still enjoying yourselves. Keep the posts coming. I'm not sure if our internet connection here in Africa is really slow, but the posts seem to be a week behind schedule!? (Hint, hint).
