"A journey is like marriage. The certain way to be wrong is to think you control it." –John Steinbeck
Okay, so we're in Lake Tahoe and the three of us are walking to dinner.  Don, who always has had a creative flair that I’ve admired said, “ You should title the blog tonight- YOU CAN’T GET THERE FROM HERE”.   We all laughed as we realized that that was the perfect title.

The day was a long one.   We were trying to get to Yosemite and three of the roads that we tried to take were blocked due to snow.  What made matters worse, a couple of times we were 30 miles or so down the road before we found out so we had to do a lot of back tracking today.  Between the back tracking and the S curves  around mountains,  we’ve traveled almost 500 miles to move the map pin about 300.  As I was typing this and trying to get you to feel sorry for us, I remembered that we are about  200 yards from Lake Tahoe.   So never mind.   There are wose fates.

We have gotten Don interested in the Master Traveler Passport deal now.  As he has purchased a U S Parks Passport,  he intends to go with us to Yosemite so he can get his stamps.   Hopefully,  we can get in there tomorrow.

A little more about the Master Traveler Program-  Each of you needs to go buy a Passport tomorrow.  They sell them at the Castillo De San Marcos- if you’re reading from St. Augustine.   What it is about:

To encourage travel across the country to each of the National  Parks the US Parks Dept set up the Master Traveler Program.   You take the passport in to the National Parks and get the book stamped at each of the park’s Visitor Center.   When you obtain 50 stamps from 25 states, you mail proof and you get your certificate (plus you have a pretty neat  Passport of your travels to keep for all time).     One of the requirements is that you have to have a stamp from each of the four corner states;   Florida, Maine, Washington and California.    We already have Washington and Florida is a snap (again,  The Castillo De San Marcos)  so tomorrow is important so we can pick up Yosemite in California.

Each of you should look into this.  It is a lot of fun- and the passport is only $8.95 and the stamps are free.   Each of the parks have a stamp that is unique to that particular park.  For example, Yellowstone is a bison.

On a related note, I have to make a trip to Maine soon.   Art, Lance, Rusty,- any of you that are reading- are you up for a road trip in the next year or so?
