Santa Catalina Panama - Punta Brava Lodge
I spent 10 days at Santa Catalina, the surf was good and consistent, but sometimes crowded. The diving and fishing were great at Isla Coiba and Isla Cebaco. I stayed at the Punta Brava Lodge Hotel which I do NOT recommend to anyone. The owner Jose Crespo is a total nutcase, he picked our group up from the airport about 5 hours late, then he drove like a lunatic and almost got us all killed on the 5 hour drive, the hotel was well located but the rooms were very dirty, musty sheets, roaches and spiders everywhere, the air conditioner was broken, the internet did not work, and the hotel food was horrible... we paid for an all inclusive package tour that included food, so we asked Jose Crespo for a refund for the food and he freaked out on us screaming at us(I think he must have been on drugs), so we just had meals at Biancas restaurant which was good. Im going to return to Santa Catalina next year, but next time I'm going to stay at either the Surfers Paradise hotel on the point, or Oasis at Playa Estero, or Cabanas Rolo in town.

Next time stay at my friend Pedro's new bungalows.
basoasruftrip@hotmail.com Pedro is actually Basque, but the locals have trouble with pronouncing Pierre. Great guy, been surfing C and S. America for 14 years. Very mellow atmosphere, good French food.
He just finished construction last month and did an outstanding job.
He knows the pulse of the town and the surrounding region.
