Hola Chicos

We found ourselves in our hostel in Salta very early which gave us loads of time to explore the city. This was the first colonial town we came to on our travels so far. This was exactly how we expecxted Argenitina to be & I fell in love with it. Bernie still prefers Mendoza over Salta however I think that was because we were drinking every night & had a pool in our hostel. We did actually share dinner with a traveller (Jason) which we meet in Cafeyate who kindly shared a bottle of wine which set him back 55 pesos. Was the nicest bottle of Malbec we have had. In return we feed him one of Bernieīs lovely pasta dinners.

Bernie has talked me into a tour of the Quebrada del Humahuaca which I really wanted to do on local buses but as our friends are just about in Salta & we are travelling to the desert with them we are now running out of days to see all the towns on the way. It turned out to be a great but long day. Travelling 500 kilometres on not great roads in a small mini bus can take itīs toll on anyone. The scenery was breathtaking & the pics do not even do it justice. Once we have a faster internet connection we will update. Travelled to San Salvador de Jujuy, Purmamarca (my fav town out of all of them), Tilcare & Humahuaca. The teachers were striking over wages & had blocked the only road up to the Quebrada so was not quite sure how far we would get. For anyone that thinks they are not getting paid enough, teachers in Argentina get paid 100 pounds a month to live off. Also had our first taste of Llama on the tour. Was very nice, nothing like chicken though. :-)
