Wow ok, it has been busy! To start with I'm very proud to get back into the gym! This week I managed Saturday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and I'm really enjoying it. I'm doing a lot of the body combat classes and this week they started a new programme so it was lots of fun with four instructors, two of the men jumping around with wigs on and me trying to punch whilst laughing...

Still...all that working-out meant I had to balance it out too and so Friday I had a night out..oh yes. I started in Eat's Time - the happy hour thing with work and although I had my car - so only one glass of wine and some cokes it was nice to unwind and chat to one of the girls from work. After that I headed home, got something to eat and met up with my house-mate. I'd kind of bullied him into going out (it wasn't so hard) and at about 10.30pm we headed out with 3 of his Luxembourgish mates.

We started out in an English bar, then a Scottish one (Ecosse) and then an Irish one (the Pyg). I learnt a tiny bit of Luxembourgish and got some great tips on where to go around the area. Then when that shut at 3am we went onto a club (muko muko) but when his mates couldn't get in because they were in t-shirts we went to another club called Byblos. It was 10 euros to get in but then you got the same amount in drinks vouchers so not to bad. The music was dancy but it was busy and a nice atmosphere so it didn't seem to matter. I had a bit of dance (badly) and a few drinks, then when I found Robbie asleep in a chair I thought maybe it was time to go home...so we got in about 8am!

Oh dear...I was supposed to meet Anna the next day to go to Mondolf but I woke up half an hour after I should have been at her house. I felt so bad, I rang to explain and she was on the way over in the car because she was worried. Ooopps - really sorry. The rest of the day was a bit sleepy, and just had a relaxing time with DVDs (including the muppets that dad had recorded for me) and a trip to the supermarket (I made it before it shut this time!!).

On Sunday I had to get up early because Glastonbury tickets were on sale! Two hours later, I managed to finally get the webpage to load to buy a ticket, and half an hour after that I managed to get my friend's tickets too - they had been trying in the UK without any luck. I was gutted when I heard there were still some for sale days later - it's unheard of.

Time for a productive afternoon so I headed out with my car and map. I wasn't sure where to go because everything is shut and I only had half a day so, as the sun was shining I thought I 'd go back to Echternach and visit the massive lake that I had missed last week. On the way, the weather changed to hail and as I recognized some of the other names on the signs I passed I decided to go exploring instead.

I headed to Mullerthal (known as little Switzerland) and found myself on a beautiful winding road that carved its way through the rock alongside a stream. As I approached a parking area I pulled over and decided what to do. By then the hail was pounding down but it looked like a fantastic area to explore so I pulled on my hiking boots and waterproof - conveniently in the boot of the car - and went for a walk. I was a little apprehensive to see a guy walking off with his hiking stick, and the information point said it was a 'Nordic Walk' but I set off and followed the path along the stream. It was amazing, stone steps up and down the rock face, lovely bridges, waterfalls etc. Soon the hail then sleet then snow stopped and the sun came out. I found a little shelter with benches and pulled out my sandwich, enjoying a little break :) All this climbing must be as good as the gym I thought, and helps to balance out my night out...

After a walk around and back to the car I took a drive to Beaufort and then LaRochette, where there were some beautiful castles but unfortunately they were closed. Still I took some photos, enjoyed the views and then finally set off home.

I felt like a nice dinner that night so after some last minute advice from Owain via msn I made a nice green Thai curry yum yum. As I cooked, the snow came and started to settle. Anna called my to check I was ok - it was so deep there she was afraid we'd be snowed in and she is only 20 mins away!

I heard that the UK had had deep snow too - and mum and dad sent some amazing photos of the snow at home. Well after snowing all night we had it like that here in Luxembourg on Monday morning too :) I took some photos out the window - it was so pretty...although a bit of a pain to clear off the car before work - especially as the snow was still falling then...!

Almost as quickly as it came, it melted and by the time I finished work it looked like it hadn't been at all.

10th April - mini update

So as I come to the end of another week here it's been another busy one. I've only made the gym twice this week but worked extra hard! I have also discovered that the sauna is a lovely way to unwind after...although I have had to get used to the fact that it's a nude sauna. Women only but you are not allowed to wear a swimming costume. At least it gives me an incentive to work harder I guess! I have been eating whatever looks good since I've been here but today I was astonished to find out I'd lost a bit of weight :) Not much but if I can go to the gym, eat like a queen and loose a little then I'm very happy.

Work has been really busy too but good - the past few nights I've left around 7pm but I've enjoyed it.

I'm really looking forward to the weekend - Owain is arriving tomorrow and I've got lots of ideas of places to take him - I can't wait.
