Klaipeda: Klaipeda... wow Wow WOW!!! planned to stay a night or two, ended up staying the week!!! i love this place!!! and the hostel is the best i've been too!!! is bloody basic and small but the vibe is like nothing else... a a a amazing!!! The Curonian Spit... the 'Sahara of Lithuania'... 97km long and no more than 4km wide.... protects the largest body of inland water, the Curonian Lagoon, from the Baltic... UNESCO world heritage landscape in 2000... 4 fishing villages along spit... Kaliningrad border 1/2 way down-ish. Caught ferry across then hired a bike and rode down to Nida... great day had!!! Nudist beaches... smoked pigs ears, a Lithuanian bar snack... followed by deep fried bread sticks smothered in garlic and cheese... artery clogging, but when in Rome!!! Cepalinas... 'Zeppelin' airship shaped dough (semolina like) filled with mushroom, meat or cheese covered with a white mushroomy bacon sauce! Yummo! Am guessing am gaining a little weight with the food here... and the amazing bakeries!!!! Siauliai: Hill of Crosses... I say this a lot, especially with regards to Lithuania but WOW! Out of the paddock springs a hill... wait for it... of crosses!!! They tried to demolish it a few times, all the crosses destroyed, barbed wire etc up... but mysteriously the next morning there has always been the beginnings of a new hill of crosses so now they just let it be... is very powerful... I added my own for granma... quite incredible Vilnius (capital): Vilnius Vilnius Vilnius... hmmm... wow! Wow! WOW! Just wandering the streets especially the old town where music follows you around every corner... magical buildings... brilliant liquors... thanks Sebastian for a fabulous liquor tasting evening!!! Just strolling around... mmm hm... umm... the markets have woman mostly standing along the street with berries or anything they find I guess for sale in any container thay can find... tins, plastic bags, cartons... all overflowing with foods... breads galore... by far the best I have ever tasted... they definitely know their breads!!! Trakai: Old capital... wow... castle surrounded by water... boat cruise... floating bridge... porta-loo boys... oh so funny... crafts... nature... beauty... yachts a plenty just floating by... community... gaiety... such a beautiful place...
