Where I stayed

We got the hell out of Delhi after the bombs at the end of our road. Now in Agra, staying in a hotel next to the Taj Mahal. Got a tour of Agra yesterday in an autorickshaw at an extortionate price of 6 quid. Today we meant to go to the Taj but last night I got terrible sickness and couldn't do anything, lay in bed for 12 hours feeling rough. Woke up this morning and now Lucy has it, on her 30th birthday too. I dragged myself out of bed to go to the dodgiest chemists in the world and get some antibiotics, they look the part so I took one but Lucy won't. We ate street food yesterday I reckon thats what did it.
Agra is very different to Delhi, more poverty and open sewers but wider streets and a more laid back feel. I expected it to be sanitised for tourists but it is far from it. Its what you make of it I suppose but feeling ill having eaten just toast today the smells of the street food, insence and sewers is too much. Its as hot here as Delhi too.
We did see the sunset over the Taj from across the other side of the river yesterday when our driver took us there, very quiet just kids herding water buffalo and a couple of backpackers from our hotel, whereas on the Taj itself there were thousands of tourists. Bit cloudy though so no pink and gold colour changes as they claim. Its a tenner to get in which is a fortune here. If we are well enough we'll go for a meal on a rooftop restaurant and see the sunset over it tonight and take a walk in the nature reserve down our road. We are going to stay in a posh hotel tomorrow night for Lucys birthday which will give us time to recover in airconditioned comfort.
