Home to Chicago via Tokyo Dear Readers: I am out the door of the hotel by 3:30am, with a breakfast box kindly provided by the concierge. There is very little traffic on the expressway to the airport, and the taxi driver races along at 140km per hour. There isn't a United Red Carpet Club at the new airport yet, so I am invited to use the Thai Airways Silk Lounge. It offers free internet access and food and coffee, but isn't up to the quality I expect from a new airport. For example, the toilets have lidded cans next to them and signs instructing users not to dispose of toilet paper in the toilet bowl. Really!
I get a nice long nap on the flight to Tokyo, change planes smoothly, then nap some more en route to Chicago (after watching "The Lake House" and eating a meal). Jonathan is waiting for me with open arms, and I happily rush into them. I foolishly think that I'll be automatically adjusted to Chicago time just because I slept so long on the flight. WRONG! As usual, Jonathan has rearranged things in my long absence. The dining area for Thanksgiving has now been moved up front to the sunroom. I am too tired to object, and sit in a slump in the living room, admiring the beautiful fall colors outside the window, grateful to be home again after another wonderful tour!
Big hugs, Dan More thumbnails ...
