Dear Readers:
Seven of us, all truly hagged and sagged, straggle out of the hotel at 3:30am this morning and head to the airport. We have no idea what will face us, but we've packed all our liquids and gels in our checked luggage. At least the hotel was kind enough to pack us each box breakfasts and have coffee ready for us at 3:00am.
There is a metal detector screening station as you enter the airport, and then you have to wait until your flight has been called before you can go through the customs and passport control. We are quite early (which is fine by me), and so we hang out in a little café where several men are sleeping on the tables.
Two others are on my flight back to Chicago, and we are nervous about the amount of time we have to make a connection in Frankfurt. This feeling of dread is exacerbated when we land in Frankfort and the plane parks what seems like miles away from the terminal and we have to board a bus to transfer in.
Our worries are needless, however, as the bus delivers us relatively close to our departure gate, and a United Red Carpet Club is right there. We are actually able to relax for about a half hour before boarding our flight to Chicago! I love it when things go smoothly like this!
