Breakfast Auf Deutch
7:30am Frankfurt Time
Dear Readers:
I confess to being spoiled by doing so many of my recent flights in Business or First Class. Coach seems a bit cramped after that. The flight to Frankfurt is aboard a Lufthansa 747, and I find my way to my seat only to find a young Indian gentleman (with very oily hair) already curled up in it, greasing up my pillow. We sort out the confusion, and he makes his way to his proper seat, leaving me to clean up.
I am on the window, where I like to curl up and sleep against the side of the plane
A man named Jim takes the seat next to me. He is huge (muscular, not fat), and prone to spreading wide. It is going to be a long flight, and I am grateful for the sleeping pills. Jim is nice enough; on his way to meet his wife in Birmingham, England. He's a production supervisor in a Chicago area manufacturing facility that supplies parts to the big three automakers. He boasts that if for some reason they had to shut their plant down, they would paralyze the entire automotive industry in the United States!
He's been working afternoons / evenings for 12 years, and has only been married for one. It is time to start a family, he says, and it isn't happening with him getting home at midnight and his wife being asleep, and him being asleep when she gets up in the morning. Needless to say, he's thinking about a career move!
We take off on time. The meal is slung within the first two hours. Chicken and lima beans
I always enjoy the Frankfurt airport, and the fact that my United Gold Card gets me into the First Class Lounge at Lufthansa. Here you can get a real breakfast, complete with that all important fiber ingredient-muesli. I use the exact same toilet I wrote about in my Russia Blog under the caption "Flush! With excitement!"
The cappuccino maker cranks out a great cup of coffee. I'm here for three hours before my connecting flight to Bucharest. All is right with the world!
Hugs,
Dan

01 Frankfurt, First Class Lounge
. The seats are three across. A strikingly beautiful young woman takes the aisle seat. I notice her passport: Bosnia! I nod and she settles back, bringing with her an overpowering cloud of body odor. I am truly flying with the unwashed masses.A man named Jim takes the seat next to me. He is huge (muscular, not fat), and prone to spreading wide. 02 My Best Friend
! The pill takes effect. I sleep for four hours and awaken in time for the meager breakfast snack. Darn! One more showing of "Over the Hedge" on an airline, and once again I sleep through it. My life is incomplete!I always enjoy the Frankfurt airport, and the fact that my United Gold Card gets me into the First Class Lounge at Lufthansa.
