Departure for Parts Unknown
1:30pm Chicago, Illinois

Dear Readers:

Two weeks at home / office between tours saw a huge amount of work accomplished. Jonathan and I cranked out a brochure that will hit the mails shortly after Labor Day, and I got a couple of new tours posted on our web site.

My daughter, Alexis, is home for a semester break before commencing her second year at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego. She is so much fun, and Jonathan and I enjoy her company immensely! After watching "Project Runway" on Bravo, we while away a few hours during our final evening together playing cards (see photo). Alexis thrashes us soundly.

Now I sit at O'Hare preparing yet once again to head out to a part of the world I have never explored before - Romania! I leave with the firm resolve not to let my obsession with staying current on my blog become a hindrance to my enjoyment of the tour and my ability to give my best to my clients. I felt that trying to keep up with it in Russia caused me to lose sleep and be less effective. I am sure that you, dear readers, will forgive me if I don't get a new entry posted every day!

Having experienced the passing of several friends and loved ones recently, I need to constantly remind myself that meeting deadlines is not what life is about. Life is about connections with people and finding gratitude and joy in whatever circumstances are currently facing me. I've gone off the track if I get impatient or out of sorts, or start trying to find things outside of myself to make me happy. I will try to keep this foremost in my consciousness as I face the unknown in Romania.

Hang on, folks! It is bound to be a bumpy ride! We will be covering a lot of miles over roads that are not well developed. I am glad you are with us, and hope you enjoy the trip!

Hugs,
Dan Ware
