We get a larger and more powerful boat today, and somewhat improved snorkeling equipment. We make the trip to Rinca Island in about 45 minutes and commence another trek in Komodo National Park. Here we see monkey, water buffalo, a guinea fowl sort of bird (can’t remember the name), a wild beehive, and tons (literally) of Komodo dragons. There are dragons littered everywhere, and since it is mating season, some of the males are feisty. We even see examples of the dragon’s nests.

After a wonderful 2-hour trek in the park, we take off in our speedboat for Bidadari Island, where we enjoy a box lunch on the beach and time for snorkeling. The coral isn’t quite as vibrant and healthy here as it was yesterday at Pink Beach, but we see lot of fish and I have my first opportunity to pick up a sea cucumber. Gross!

After a quick shower at the hotel, we foray into town once more to try another restaurant, named Mediterraneo. As far down on the scale as our restaurant was last night, this one far exceeds expectations – so much so that we are planning to return here tomorrow night as well. I have octopus carpaccio for an appetizer, and it is heavenly. My main course is a grilled cod with potato and a spinach pie. I have a chocolate carpaccio with chocolate ice cream for dessert chased down with a cappuccino. Everyone is as thrilled with their choices as I am, and we look forward to coming here again tomorrow!
