Guess what? I'm in Nepal!! Wow... Nepal.
Ya, it's kinda neat being
here. Last night I was in
Bangladesh. Let me tell
you, what a crappy place
that was.
I've been out of touch with civilization for a while... trekking through the Himilaya's is quite extrodinary! I almost feel like I'm in a Lord of the Rings movie or a fantasy book.
In places you're walking along a trail and your travelling through an enchanted forest... moss hangs from the trees and rocks like snow... it is something to behold. In other places you travel through a landscape littered with giant boulders and expect a goblin or something to come out at you at any second.
The trek started in Jiri, which is a small town west of Khatmandu. From there we walk about 5-7 hours a day up and down mountain sides. You can see snow capped peaks in the distance and you know you're up high because of how cold it is. For example today I'm in Namche, which is 3440 m above sea level. I haven't experienced any altitude sickness, thankfully, but I know of others that have.
The trail is quite narrow and trecherous but exhiliarating at the same time.
We are going to spend two nights here in Namche to get acclimatized to the altitude and from here press on to Everest base camp. I should be there in about 6 days (if all goes well).
Hi!
If you have been recommended from anyone whom you know then it is fine. As you are going to one of the most beautiful country in this world you need to be well prepared to enjoy the tour fully. Have faith in yourself and believe in people. Normally it is advisable that you check with other operators also in the case the recommendation is not from your family/friends.
