Where I stayed
Boonsiri Guest House

Flag of Thailand  , Nakhon Ratchasima,
Thursday, September 2, 2010

Just like Korat, Phimai is small and remote. I stayed at Boonsiri Guest House which was a great place to stay, and the people that run it (George and his Mother) are two of the most caring and friendly that I have met since being in Thailand.

There is not much to do in the town other than visit the Khymer ruins, but these are spectacular and completely justify the journey East. The Mahayana Buddhist temple is known as Prasat Hin Phimai, and is one of the biggest religous sanctuaries in Thailand. It is over 1000 years old and it is pretty amazing. Considering the scale of the ruins the place was pretty much empty, which made the whole experience better and was a nice change from many other saturated sites that I have been to before..

Tomorrow I am getting the bus up to Khon Kaen, and either stopping of there or taking a 10 hour bus ride up to Northern Thailand before I enter Laos.

It must be awesome being surrounded by so much history. Did I tell you about the time I found red ants in my bar of turkish delight?!

Good to see you are enjoying yourself and seeing great places even with ant bites. The photos are great.

Nice pictures....especially to see you in them as well!
How do you update the blog? Do you have to find an internet cafe in each place that you visit?

Pat on

You've gone quiet on us. Where is our next blog entry?

Have George and his mother locked you in their cellar?

Did you get eaten by the giant red ants?

Sort it out!!
