After torturous 2 hour cycle back we had bite to eat & got ready for next tour. Off in a landrover cross country jeep (not the nice posh ones, the army style rackity ones) to see the sea lions. We had a lovely teenage boy racer as our guide...oh yeah he had no English either. So firstly...as boy racers do, we were brought ´spinning´ through the sand dunes! Thought the jeep was gonna topple over, went down hills that I thought were impossible but he managed them very well.
The snad dunes were reminiscent of those in Star Wars, alot of the hills or dunes were actually clay & not sand at all. It was really cool landscape. loads of muscles growing on the rock crunching under your feet as you walked.
We eventually got to National Park where you could see the seals. We didn´t jnow what to expect as when we asked our guide roughly how many seals there would be, he replied with what seemed like a random number of 15 (perhaps it was only number he knew in English!)
Got out of jeep & went to viewing point from up on the cliff & below us on a wee sandy bay lay at least 100 seals. they were so funny, the sounds they make are like loud farting & burping noises. They were much more active than the elephant seals. They were moving around cuddling up to each other & playing, with lots going in & out of water for swim.
Tha male seal was th funniset of all. He´s the big black one in the photo. He was just like Homer Simspon. He made the loudest noise of all the seals (as most males tend to do!) really loud burping noises. He was trying it on with all the female seals but not getting anywhere. One female was a right tease, she was leading him on & he folled her round for ages then she rolled over & fell asleep with other group of seals....sound familar men?
They were just really comical to watch. They even had few wee babies, hope ye can see them in photos. We took video of them aswell but anytime we´ve tried to upload videos they take over an hour & still aren´t uploaded so mite stick with photos. Thats it on seals.
Arses still wild sore from the bikes, for those of you concerned!
