We are stopping for a few days to check out "KL" before heading to southern Thailand.
We stay in "Chinatown" on Petaling st. where some cheap accommodation is as well as a crazy night market and tons of street food options. We spend most of our time around this area. Sorry no city sight-seeing forus this time. We are leaving a bunch of random things from our backpacks at the hotel, so we'll be back. KL is a great southeast Asian hub so we figure we'll make it our base, especially since Bangkok is currently out of the question for political reasons. We spend most of our time reading and sleeping and eating. Hum bao and congee for breakfast, vegetarian buffet and noodle soup for lunch, and satay and silky tofu with liquid brown sugar (my fave!) and other sweet goodies for dessert, um, I mean dinner!
We had free wifi in our room and used my iPod touch to skype with my mom again and Jon's dad and his awesome girlfriend Penny (as a team they very successfully, if not easily, set up skype on their computer) as well as his sister Mandi. We also got to talk to Jon's best friend Mia and Mandi at the same time! It was superfun and good for us to connect with home.
We took the LRT to a flea market inside a mall and traded some of our books for other used books, yay.
