Where I stayed

Flag of Philippines  , Siquijor,
Wednesday, March 17, 2010

Siquijor is most well-known among the Philippines for the many practicing faith-healers, or witch doctors.  We have heard stories while we have been here and today was the day that we went to go find one.  The guys at Coral Cay gave us directions to her house up on the hill, so we drove on over to see what we could find. I wasn't really expecting anything, but just as we arrived at the house there were two Australian guys just leaving and they said yeah this is the place and it's pretty amazing to try if you have an open mind.
We go up to the house and sit on their porch area, none of the family speaks English (a first in this country so far) but there about 4 adults sitting there gesturing for us to sit. Then a little old woman who looks like she's 100 years old comes out rubs some oil on Jon's forehead and begins bulo-bulo on his head. (We explained his headaches he's had since scuba diving).  Bulo-bulo is this healer's specific practice which involves a small black stone placed in a clear glass filled halfway with plain water from a pitcher. She takes this bamboo (or maybe it is metal) straw and places it against his head, then she blows through the straw and moves the glass all over his head.  She blows bubbles through the straw and soon enough the water begins to turn very cloudy and dirty. She stops blowing and looks at the water and says something to it. There are all kinds of particles floating in it. She takes her stone out, dumps the water over the edge, refills the glass and does it again.  She must have spent 20 minutes on his head, and about 10 glasses of water, but then all of a sudden she is blowing and the glass doesn't get dirty anymore. Then he is healed.
She does my whole body, running the glass all over my head, torso, and thighs. She doesn't need to spend as much time on me because after about 10 minutes my glass is clear, but I do have some larger chunks floating around in my glass.
An awesome experience
Google bulo-bulo healer to read more about it.

I found this person's blog has the actual woman I saw on it. Scroll down to the bottom.  She also didn't use a Colt45 glass with us.
