My foot's looking really nasty so we decide it's time to go to the doctor today.  I have my mom's voice in the back of my head saying ''Just go to the doctor, just to be safe, no matter how small or silly, just to be safe, just go to the doctor''.  So we did. 

After asking like 5 different people along the way we finally find this tiny building, park right in front and walk right into the waiting room.  The nurse (a boy dressed all in white with a gold name plate. He looks like he works on a cruise ship) tells us to go across the street to the pharmacy and buy a folder and a binder clip. This will become my file, which they name Hard Rock Cottages, like that's my name or something.  Anyway, there is no wait at all right there in the front waiting room he takes my blood pressure and weighs me (come on dude) and takes my temperature by running this device across my forehead. 

Apparently I have a low-grade fever. OK.  Then we see the doctor in the room behind the desk.  She takes one look at my foot and immediately says ''infected'' and writes me a prescription for oral and topical antibiotics, and tells me to buy some hydrogen peroxide to clean it because alcohol is bad bad bad. 

Jon goes back across the street to fill the scripts and I go back into the front room and sit in this high chair so the nurse boy cleans my foot. Of course we have to wait for Jon to come back with the peroxide and ointment so he can use this (at least they had their own cotton balls and gauze, although we saw another nurse making the cotton balls with her fingers, and we're thinking, um... ok?).  Everyone who is waiting to see the doctor is now watching and looking really interested and asking what happened.

We go to a fried chicken place for dinner called Chicken Ati-Atihan (a holiday in the Philippines kind of like mardi-gras) and it is so delicious!  We get some fried and some bbq chicken.  Very crispy.  Great lonely planet recommendation.  LP has been great in this country because there are hardly any tourists here in the first place so you don't have to worry about the place being no locals and all white people.

The food in this country is kind of hit or miss.  It is often very, very salty, or just flavored with sugar.  We have been learning what's really good through trial and error.  Jon bought a bag of these Prawn crackers which are like spicy squid-flavored Cheetos.  He loves them.  I didn't try one.
